Slide repairs on U.S. 101 at milepost 129.3 at Whale Cove continue and have shifted to night work. Work hours are now 7:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday, and are scheduled to be completed in early March. No work will be done February 24 to February 28 during the Newport Seafood and Wine Festival. GSI Contractors are completing the repairs under contract with the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) using newer technology that uses a much smaller footprint to repair slopes rather than the earthmoving/rock buttress type repairs we historically have done. The slide was discovered following the late December rain and wind events in the area. Travelers should expect delays up to 20 minutes in the area during active work hours. Flaggers are alternating traffic in the northbound lane.
