News release Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 3-27-16 at 1759 hours Coos County Law Enforcement was alerted of a dispute in a home resulting in a firearm being discharged. Officers from the Bandon Police Department and the Sherriff’s Office responded to 87279 East Jupiter Lane, Bandon, Oregon. A female called and told the 911 center she wished to report a dispute between her two adult sons at the residence, which all three reside at. The female caller, 55 year old Bandon resident, Sandra Hutchens said she and her younger son, 24 year old Matthew Sparkman had left the residence after her other son, 32 year old Joshua A. Sparkman discharged a rifle, intentionally in the home. She told dispatchers her Joshua Sparkman remained in the home with the rifle and had pointed it at her younger son Matthew and was making verbal threats towards him. At 1808 hours the Bandon Police Department arrived and detained Joshua A. Sparkman without incident. Upon investigation it was determined the round fired had went through an exterior wall near the victims head. Mr. Sparkman was arrested for unlawful use of a firearm and menacing (Domestic), while being booked in the jail Mr. Sparkman was found to be in possession of suspected crystal methamphetamine, bail was listed for Mr. Sparkman totaling $35,000.00.
