Stanford & UCLA are Favorites of the Media
The Oregon football team was picked by media covering the conference to finish third in the Pac-12 North in 2016, Oregon State sixth, the conference announced from its media days last week in California. The Ducks, who went 9-4 in 2015, were picked to finish behind Stanford and Washington in the North Division. That ended a streak of five straight years in which Oregon was the preseason favorite in the North. Stanford received 24 of 33 first-place votes in the North and was picked to win the Pac-12 title game as well, making the Cardinal the preseason favorite for the first time in the 56-year history of the conference. One voter of the 33 picked Oregon to win the North. UCLA is the preseason favorite in the South Division, garnering 19 of 33 first-place votes. USC received 12 and Utah got the other two. Oregon opens fall camp Aug. 8, when the team will also host its media day.
