Ducks Drop Beavers at Corvallis
OSU report – CORVALLIS – The Oregon State men’s basketball team fell to Oregon 60-58 on a basket with one second on the clock Saturday evening at Gill Coliseum. The Beavers trailed by seven with just over two minutes to go, but battled back to level the score, before the Ducks scored the winning bucket. Michael Rataj narrowly missed a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Tyler Bilodeau had 12 points and six boards, while Jordan Pope finished with 10 points, four rebounds, four assists and a pair of steals. Dexter Akanno recorded 10 points. Chol Marial scored nine points in his return to the starting lineup. As a team Oregon State shot 41.8 percent from the floor and out-scored Oregon 34-24 in the second half. The teams went back-and-forth early on, as Oregon took a 10-9 edge into the game’s first media timeout. The score was level at 17 mid-way through the first half. The Ducks scored 11-straight points to open up a 26-17 advantage. Oregon led 36-24 at the intermission. The Beavers scored six-straight points to get back within nine with eight minutes to play. Oregon State used another six-point run to get within seven with just over four minutes on the clock. Oregon State trailed by seven with 2:05 to go, but rallied to level the score with 40 seconds left. Oregon scored with one second remaining to claim the win. The Rivalry Series is presented by Safeway-Albertsons, PacificSource Health Plans, Your Local Toyota Dealers and First Interstate Bank. Oregon State will head to the Bay Area for a pair of games next week, beginning Thursday at California.

Oregon’s women dropped two Pac-12 basketball games in the Willamette Valley over the weekend. On Friday, The Ducks lost to USC 88-51, and Sunday, fell to UCLA 74-55, both game at Matthew Knight Arena, Eugene. Oregon is at Washington, Friday, Feb. 23, 7p, Pac-12 Washington. At Gill Coliseum, Corvallis, Oregon State got a split. The Beavers beat UCLA on Friday, 79-77, but fell 58-50 Sunday to USC. OSU (10-4, 21-4) is at Washington State on Friday, Feb. 23, 7p, Pac-12 Oregon.

Oregon’s softball team competed at the NFCA Leadoff Classic at Clearwater, FL. The Ducks were 2-3 at the Campbell/Cartier Classic at San Diego. On Friday, Oregon lost to Texas A&M 4-1 and Loyola Marymount 4-0. On Saturday, the UO beat Loyola Marymount 8-0, downed San Diego State 2-0, but lost to Texas A&M 2-0. Oregon (6-5) is in the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classist at Cathedral City, CA beginning Thursday, Feb. 22, 2:30p, against UCF. Oregon State was at the Fresno State Tournament and went 2-3. On Friday, the Beavers lost to St. Mary’s 1-0. Also Friday, lost to Fresno State 8-0. On Saturday, OSU beat Utah Valley 10-3 & Fresno State 3-2. Sunday, Utah Valley best OSU 5-4. Oregon State (5-5) heads to the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic, Cathedral, CA, Thursday, Feb. 22, to play Wisconsin, 11:30 a.m., FloSoftball.

Oregon’s baseball team won two-out-of-three at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown at Arlington, TX to open the 2024 collegiate season. The Ducks beat Oklahoma Friday, 4-2, and Baylor 7-4. On Sunday, Oregon fell to Texas Tech 11-7. The Ducks (2-1) are scheduled to host Lafayette, Friday, Feb. 23, 4p, Oregon Live Stream. Oregon State’s baseball team opened the 2024 season with three wins. At Surprise Stadium, Surprise, AZ, Friday, OSU opened with a 15-6 win over New Mexico. On Saturday, the Beavers beat Minnesota 6-4, and Sunday, downed CSU Bakersfield 15-2. Oregon State (3-0) plays Monday, Feb. 19, 9a, against Minnesota, on FloBaseball.

Oregon State’s wrestling team finished the 2024 regular season with a 29-11 win at Stanford, Sunday. The Beavers (3-2, 7-5), next compete in the Pac-12 Championships, Sunday, March 10, 6p, at Gill Coliseum, Corvallis on the Pac-12 Networks.
