News release CCSO. On May 15th 2017 a Coos County Sheriff’s Deputy was working overtime on seatbelt enforcement grant in the Barview area of Coos Bay. At approximately 09:13 am the Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 1994 Cadillac Sedan at the Empire 7-11 for numerous traffic violations. During the stop the Deputy learned the driver of the vehicle, Zahnie J. Moore, 29 years of age and a passenger, William M. Patterson, 28 years of age, both of Coos Bay, had valid warrants for their arrest. Both subjects were detained on the warrants. While both subjects were being detained, suspected meth was located on Mr. Patterson. A drug detection K-9 (Kara) from the Coquille Police Department responded to the location and alerted to the vehicle. The vehicle was then impounded and towed from the location by Mast Towing, to be held pending application for a search warrant. A large amount of currency was also seized from Mr. Moore, the driver of the vehicle. Both subjects were transported to the Coos County Jail where they were booked and are being held on the warrants. Zahnie Moore was being held on a Coos County Misdemeanor warrant for Failure to Appear and William Patterson was being held on a Coos County Felony warrant for Contempt of Court. A 29 year old female who had been in the vehicle but let out just a few blocks from where the vehicle stop occurred, was not detained.
