Hwy. 101 & Hwy. 42 CCSO release – On September 26th, 2018 at 1258 hours, a Deputy with the Coos County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a 2011 Toyota Tundra for multiple traffic infractions. As the Deputy approached the vehicle on foot he discovered a verbal domestic dispute was occurring between the passenger, 29-year old Jamie Atkins and the driver, 35-year old Nathanial Waggoner, both of Coos Bay. Both made mention of narcotics inside the vehicle and one of the involved parties advised there was also a firearm. While the Deputy was checking Atkins through the state and national database a large machete was thrown from the vehicle. The Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center advised the Deputy that Atkins had three active warrants out for her arrest.  Atkins was taken into custody without incident. When more Deputies arrived on scene, Mr. Waggoner was placed under arrest for a Probation Violation. Bandon Police K9 Penny was called to the scene for a vehicle check. K9 Penny alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. A search of vehicle occurred, resulting in the discovery of  Heroin, Xanex, and methamphetamines. No firearm was located inside the vehicle. Waggoner was transported to the Coos County Jail and held without bail for a Felony Probation Violation and Possession of a Controlled Schedule I Substance. Atkins was transported to the Coos County Jail and held for three warrants charging Unlawful Delivery of Methamphetamine, Delivery of Methamphetamine, Failure to Appear in the First Degree, and Violation of a Restraining Order. Atkins was also cited for Unlawful Possession of Heroin. Jamie’s bail was set at $92,500.00. This arrest was made with the assistance of the Bandon Police Department and K9 Penny.
