A report from the Coos Bay North Bend Visitors Convention Bureau (CB-NB VCB) Executive Director Cindy Rawlings. North Bend Visitor and Convention Bureau is happy to report that Oregon’s Adventure Coast is enjoying a strong year for visitors and tourism. Hotel occupancy and revenue is substantially higher in 2015 than reported at the same point in 2014. Our region enjoyed significant growth in occupancy compared to the whole Oregon Coast region, Oregon Statewide and United States averages. Coos County surveyed with a 10.3% increase in occupancy for June 2015 YTD over June 2014 YTD. This compares with a 9.9% Oregon Coast occupancy growth and 6.1% Statewide Oregon occupancy growth. The United States total average occupancy growth is just 2.3% comparing June 2015 YTD with June 2014 YTD. At the end of the fiscal year the City of Coos Bay showed the budget expected revenue of $490,000 for their 7% Transient Tax rate. The actual revenue was $583,349, an increase of $93,349 in transient tax revenue. For the City of North Bend budget the expected revenue from the Transient Tax rate of 7%, was $90,000. North Bend actually received $102,372.80, an increase of $12,370.80. Oregon’s Adventure Coast, Coos Bay, North Bend and Charleston have received some great press coverage in the past year and we’ve enjoyed a lot of visitor interest on our website and Facebook page. The VCB works to develop visitors and promote greater awareness of tourism’s role in our local economy.
