Jackson County Commissioners are expected to consider Friday whether or not to join other Southwestern Oregon counties, including Coos, Curry, Douglas & Josephine in signing a letter to Governor Kate Brown asking her to release them from her COVID-19 Executive Order that shutdown many businesses throughout the state. Commissioners in Coos & Curry counties voted Wednesday to add their signatures to the letter. Douglas Co. Commissioner Chris Boice authored it and says his request is based on a declining number of people with symptoms of COVID-19, a declining number of confirmed cases and an adequate hospital capacity.
