News release from the Coos Co. Sheriff’s Office. On 03/16/2016 at about 1:47 PM, Coos County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a man threatening people with a crowbar while trying to steal a vehicle from a business located on Oakway Lane which is just south of Coos Bay. Deputies arrested Kevin Depew, age 32 from Cornelius, Oregon, after investigation indicated he had threatened several people and had even chased one person around a building while trying to obtain the keys for a vehicle which he claimed was his. After he could not get the keys to the truck Kevin Depew used a crow bar to additionally threaten people and then break the back window of a 2007 Black Silverado pickup to gain entry into the truck. Deputies found him inside of the truck. Investigation also indicated he was being sought by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for crimes he had allegedly committed in their jurisdiction. Kevin Depew was charged with 1 x Criminal Trespass II,1 x Harassment, 1 x Criminal Mischief I, 2 x Unauthorized Entry into a Motor Vehicle and 1 x Robbery III. He was lodged into the Coos County Jail.
